Here ia a guide for initializing & troubleshooting TNC Comport settings:
KPC3 or KPC3+ with a RS232 (DB9) or USB connection.
1. Open Device Manager - Click on
and type Device Manager and Enter

Open the Ports section:

If you are using a FTDI Chipset USB to Serial adapter it will show up in Device Manager under properties or double click on it.


Choose the Comport you want it to be....(as long as it is not physically used)


This will change the Comport to the one you want.
Here is an example of multiple Comports

2. Under Ports (COM & LPT) you will see all the Comports
Note: If you are using a RS232 serial cable then it will be listed as - Communications port(COM?)
If you are using a USB to Serial then it will listed as - USB Serial Port
3. Once you know all the Comports make a note of them.
4. Open Airmail and enter the setp parameters....
Click on Tools and then choose Options
Under Connection tab
Enter Modem type : KAM+
Enter Comport : 1
Enter Baud Rate : 9600

To check if the comport is the correct one go to Tools/Dumb Terminal

Make sure that you have the TNC On and cable connected with the correct comport
If you get 2 green lights then the comport is right.

Now change the speed to 19200 and cycle the TNC
